Who needs it

  • Most international travelers need it; each passport holder files their own application, including infants.
  • Visa-exempt for short stays: nationals of countries such as Kenya, Uganda, South Africa and Singapore, who still need a valid passport and other entry requirements such as a return ticket.
  • Referral category: citizens of countries such as Nigeria, Pakistan and Lebanon cannot get an instant eVisa and need approval from the Commissioner General of Immigration, which can take up to two months.
  • US citizens must apply for the multiple-entry version.
  • A Transit Visa is needed if leaving the airport transit area for less than 7 days; not needed if staying in the international terminal.
Entry points: Air: Julius Nyerere (DAR), Kilimanjaro (JRO), Abeid Amani Karume (ZNZ), Mwanza (MWZ). Land: Namanga, Sirari, Horohoro, Mutukula, Rusumo, Tunduma, Kasumulu. Sea: Dar es Salaam Port and Zanzibar Port. Remote border stations may require a physical visa.
